What is the best way to bring awareness for Oceans’ Day?

In this tiny short, I explored the forced co-habitation between marine life and the plastics discarded by humans in the ocean.

Museum Bordalo Pinheiro

This short was shared in RTP (Portugal’s public service broadcaster)! How cool is that. This video is a presentation of the museum’s educational program.

The concept and narrative developed are based on Bordalo’s own narrative and illustrations. We see this short from the perspective of the writer, we join them in their own imagination:

A story that is re-written a re-starts with a child (representing ignorance) playing with the head of Zé Povinho (the Portuguese People), hitting it repeatedly emptying the head in the process. Its contents are devoured by a pig (the Government).

So Zé Povinho is empty, and only by filling his body with knowledge he can say "f**k off" – a symbol of strength, insight and revolution against the government and ignorance.

Concept & Development

In a time when we were glued to our phones, cultural organizations were looking for different ways to cut through the noise and connect with the “clients” to share their programs and information.

That was when I started to create short stopmotions and had a blast shoting and editing hundreds of photos for more than a year! The name and brand were born out of this exact excitement for the project.

Through stopmotion, and the manipulation of visual and sound elements, I created narratives with wide variety of storytelling, messages, styles and cadences.

p.s. this is my own project, that’s why I’m so informal and direct in my writing.
